Columbus Mill Race Marathon Canceled

This fall's Mill Race Marathon has been canceled. The Mill Race Marathon Planning Committee made the announcement this morning.

In an email, the committee says it made the decision with the City of Columbus and Columbus Regional Health.

"Many unknowns remain about COVID-19, and the fact that a sizable group of virus carriers never show symptoms makes it very difficult to manage and prevent spread in public situations, especially those with large gatherings," the email said.

The race was scheduled for September 26. All events including the marathon, half marathon and 5K have been canceled. Race organizers say they're still considering holding the races as virtual events.

Race organizers say they will offer refunds to people who've already registered or allow them to transfer their registration to the 2021 event.

Carmel Marathon

The Carmel Marathon, which was originally scheduled for April 27, was rescheduled for June 14. That postponed date was also canceled.

Marathon organizers say they're still reviewing options for a possible October 2020 date.
