COVID-19 hospitalizations continue to increase with 1,138 Hoosiers hospitalized due to the virus.

The Indiana State Department of Health is reporting 331 new positive coronavirus cases and 14 additional confirmed deaths Tuesday, bringing Indiana's total case number to 42,871 and the confirmed death toll to 2,377.

There are 192 probable deaths reported, which the state classifies as "those for which a physician listed COVID-19 as a contributing cause based on X-rays, scans and other clinical symptoms but for which no positive test is on record."

Monroe County's total COVID-19 case number rose by four to 213, and the county death toll remains the same at 26. Data provided shows 6,380 Monroe County residents have been tested.

ISDH says it has tested 426,376 people across the state so far. That number includes tests run by the state, the Centers For Disease Control And Prevention, and some private laboratories. The number of tests that return positive is 10.1%. ISDH says the  "number of tests is provisional and reflects only those reported to ISDH. Numbers should not be characterized as a comprehensive total."

Tuesday's numbers show that 11.9% of the state's 2,488 existing intensive care unit (ICU) beds are currently being used by patients with COVID-19-related illnesses, while 37.7% are still available.

And as of noon Tuesday, 3.7% of the state's 2,985 total ventilators are being used by COVID-19 patients, while 81.4% are still available.
