Commission Approves Proposed Purchase Price For Night Moves

Bloomington's redevelopment commission unanimously approved a resolution Monday night allowing the city to increase its proposed purchase price for Night Moves strip club on South Walnut Street.

The city wants to buy the business because it sits near the future entrance to Switchyard Park, but it doesn't plan to own the property long term.

The commission's approval allows the city to offer $775,000 for the property.

"If it is not accepted, it allows us to continue to negotiate with the property owners," says Controller Jeff Underwood.

Director of Economic and Sustainable Development Alex Crowley says the city would like to see something else, such as affordable housing, go up on the property.

"The city's interested in really helping to navigate what happens with this land in an effort to really augment the park experience, especially near the entrance, which is right there," Crowley says.

The owners of Night Moves previously rejected an offer from the city of Bloomington purchase the property at a lower price.

The entrance to Switchyard Park will be on the site of the former Wee Willie's restaurant on South Walnut Street.
