A cross has returned to a Christmas tree in a central Indiana town, despite a lawsuit by the American Civil Liberties Union.
The Indianapolis Star reports that the cross is not on top of the tree in the town square in Knightstown. It had been recently removedafter the ACLU sued on behalf of a resident.
Ken Falk of the ACLU of Indiana says he was told the cross would return to the tree but not in a prominent spot. He doesn't anticipate additional legal action but says the display will be evaluated.
Many residents in Knightstown are upset about the controversy and are displaying crosses on their private property in the community of 2,100 people.
