A judge says deer hunts at Eagle Creek Park can take place starting this weekend.
The Marion County Superior Court judge denied claims in a civil lawsuit filed by residents.
The lawsuit said the city-county government did not follow proper procedures when the hunts were approved by the Parks and Recreation Board in September.
Parks and Recreation says it did follow the law and that the hunts are needed to cull a deer population that it says is about ten times what it should be.
The deer hunts will be carried out by sharpshooters and sometimes by veterans as part of a program from the Wounded Warriors Project.
Eagle Creek Park will be closed to the public while the hunts take place.
