Kelly Mitchell Wins Race For Indiana Treasurer

Kelly Mitchell will be Indiana's next State Treasurer after defeating Democrat Mike Boland Tuesday.

Mitchell has spent the last six years in the Treasurer's office, serving as Director of TrustINdiana, a local government investment fund.

She is the only non-incumbent Republican running for statewide office this year.

Mitchell says traveling the state and listening to Hoosiers has been the gift of a lifetime but notes the work isn't finished:

"We have a lot to celebrate," she said. "But we didn't work this hard just to win this election; we worked this hard to make Indiana government the best that it can be."

Mitchell becomes the fourth woman to serve as state Treasurer. She helps the GOP retain an office it has controlled for 35 years.
