Other school corporations have been able to apply to the state to make school days longer, to cope with the missing days for upcoming standardized test.
North Lawrence superintendent Gary Conner says they've found an unusual solution to compensate for the snow days.
"We have extended our school day by 30 minutes a day for 12 days for each school day miss," Conner said.
However, Brown County Corporation superintendent David Shaffer says that isn't an option for their schools.
"We didn't feel like tacking extra time in the school day or, under the consideration of the Department of Education recommended was considering Saturday school," Shaffer said. "We didn't think either one of those were very viable for our situation over here in Brown County we have boys and girl that are on the bus one way for about a hour link of time and so we didn't feel it was productive."
Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation missed eight days. But they're under what's called a balanced schedule – the school year is continuous, with a short summer but longer semester breaks. Superintendent John Quick says they made their snow days up during spring break.
"Had we not used the snow days we would have had just a little bit longer spring break, so we had a week of Spring Break and we could have had as many as two weeks but this year we made up those days the second week," Quick said
Bartholomew County schools also have an extra two days at the end of the semester to recover all the missing days.
