The Indiana Attorney General‘s office is suing three out-of-state companies, accusing them of duping new and elderly homeowners into paying as much as $89 for copies of deeds.
Those copies can be obtained from county recorders for no more than a dollar a page.
Attorney General Greg Zoeller says the defendants were sending those property owners mailings that appeared to be official government forms.
