Health Officials Suggest Discarding Cantaloupes

State and federal health officials are advising that any cantaloupes bought since July 7 th be discarded. A salmonella outbreak has sickened 14 people in Indiana and about 150 nationwide.

The source of the outbreak has not been determined, but the State Department of Health is investigating farms in Southwest Indiana, as well as distributors and retailers. One farm has voluntarily agreed to withdraw from the market. Kentucky, which has 50 confirmed cases, is also investigating retailers and other points along the distribution chain.
