ISTEP Scores To Be Released Tuesday

Results of Indiana's benchmark statewide test for third through eighth graders are due to come out Tuesday morning.

State superintendent Tony Bennett will officially release the ISTEP results at a statehouse press conference at 10 a.m.

The main question is whether the upward trend in passage rates will continue. Last year 70 percent of Indiana students passed the exam. That was a slight uptick from 2010 but nowhere near the five-point jump between 2009 and 2010.

The ISTEP results form the backbone of the state's accountability system for elementary and middle schools, meaning more than 1,500 schools' state letter grades are largely riding on these results.
