Seymour Police Post Could Be Demolished

The Indiana Finance Authority is seeking permission to demolish the former Seymour State Police Post while another organization is trying to save the structure.

The post building was built in 1937 and was the first state police post outside of Indianapolis. Finance Authority officials say the building is obsolete and cannot be refurbished or sold.

Indiana Landmarks disagrees, stating the structure is a significant resource that could be re-used. The Indiana Historic Preservation Review Board will consider the Finance Authority‘s request on Friday.
