Egg Prices To Remain Moderate In 2018

Hoosiers can expect to pay slightly more for eggs this year. But, the small increase isn't much compared to prices from just three years ago.

Purdue University Agricultural Economist Chris Hurt says egg prices are expected to rise about three cents in 2018. He says it's a moderate increase, considering what Hoosiers paid after the Avian flu outbreak in 2015.

"The all-city average in the United States averaged about $1.44 a dozen in 2017, and that's coming down from a high of $2.47 a dozen back in 2015," Hurt says.

Hurt says 2017 egg prices were the lowest the country's seen in about 12 years.
