Indiana University has renamed the IU School of Law-Indianapolis after Robert McKinney, a founding partner of Bose McKinney & Evans law firm in Indianapolis. The school's official name will now be the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law.
McKinney donated $24 million, the largest gift the school has ever received. His gift was matched by a $7.5 million donation from the IUPUI IMPACT fundraising campaign.
"This gift will be instrumental in our efforts to attract nationally renowned legal scholars to our law school in Indianapolis, as well as top-flight students from around the country, and we are deeply grateful to Bob for his generosity," IU President Michael McRobbie says.
IU says the donation will be used for five endowed chairs as well as to attract more nationally recognized professors. It is also being used to create a $17.5 million endowment to fund a student scholarship.
