The Monroe County Council has voted to recommend that the county election board implement vote centers throughout Monroe County, beginning in 2012.
According to Auditor Amy Gerstman, the move will save the county $75,000 by eliminating the need for poll workers in each individual precinct. The vote centers will not be in place for this year's municipal elections, though early voting has begun in the Curry Building, at 7th and Morton Streets in Bloomington.
