Indiana reported 138 new positive COVID-19 cases in long-term care facilities this week—an increase from last week.
That brings the total cases among long-term care facility residents to more than 5,800.
While the spread of disease had slowed in recent weeks, last week marked a significant increase with 11 new facilities reporting their first case.
More than 1,200 Hoosiers living in long-term care facilities have died from COVID-19. That accounts for nearly half of Indiana’s recorded deaths.
The state plans to release facility-level data publicly for the first time later this month, but says it is missing information from nearly one-third of facilities.
