The Indiana State Department of Health confirmed 658 more positive cases of COVID-19 Monday along with three additional deaths. Across the state, 57,206 Hoosiers have tested positive and 2,632 have died due to COVID-19. Nine percent of the state’s 635,660 tests have come back positive.
The state number was down from Sunday’s total of 916, the second-highest daily number of new COVID-19 tests reported since the pandemic began.
Monroe County reported an additional 12 positive cases Monday, raising its total to 484, but the death count stayed at 28 for the 25 th consecutive day. In Monroe County, 11,495 residents have been tested meaning the positive rate is 4.2 percent.
More than 800 Hoosiers are currently hospitalized due to COVID-19.
Because of the increase in hospitalizations and positive cases, the Indianapolis Public Schools Board of Commissioners announced a two-week delay on reopening.
