Health officials in Greene County warn residents in Bloomfield and Solsberry to be cautious, as the majority of the county’s new COVID-19 infections are concentrated in the two communities.
The health department issued an advisory Tuesday, encouraging seniors and those with preexisting conditions to avoid nonessential travel.
Since July 4, Greene County has seen its cases increase from previous weeks. Health Administrator, Shari Lewis, says that’s likely not a coincidence and encouraged people to remain vigilant and wear masks.
"By issuing alerts letting everyone know if we have cluster situations that further helps the public be able to make decisions," Lewis said.
According to Lewis, much of the spread of disease can be linked to larger gatherings. While the county’s overall cases remain low, 18 people have been infected with COVID-19 in the past two weeks.
