COVID-19 Hospitalizations Exceed 900 For The First Time Since Early June

The Indiana State Department of Health reported 809 new positive COVID-19 cases and 16 new deaths totaling 63,678 confirmed cases and 2,725. Additionally, ISDH data shows a rise in COVID-19 hospitalizations totaling 907. This is the greatest number of coronavirus-related hospitalizations since 913 reported June 6.

The ISDH indicates 716,809 Hoosiers have been tested with an 8.9% positive return.

Monroe County reported 17 new positive cases and one additional death bringing the county totals to 520 positive cases and 30 deaths. ISDH numbers show 14,021 Monroe County residents have been tested.

In the county, many parents oppose the Monroe County Community School Corporation’s plan to reopen schools, and hundreds plan to rally on Tuesday.

Children ages zero to 19 currently make up 8.9% of positive cases and 0.1% of deaths, according to the ISDH. People over the ages 50 make up 41% of positive cases and 97.3% of deaths.
