The Indiana State Department of Health on Tuesday reported 836 new positive cases of COVID-19 and 14 new deaths, bringing the state totals to 69,255 positive cases and 2,794 deaths. According to the ISDH, 9,567 more Hoosiers received tests, bringing the total tested to 785,018 individuals across the state — about 11.5% of the state’s population. Of those tested in the past week, 7.3% have come back positive.
Monroe County’s positive case total rose by nine to 695, and the county death total remained the same at 30. The City of Bloomington announced Monday that a second Bloomington Transit driver tested positive for COVID-19. This is the 10 th City of Bloomington employee to receive a positive test. In Monroe County, 15,897 residents have been tested with a positivity rate of about 4.4%.

After complaints about heat-related closures, OptumServe, the company contracted by the state to conduct COVID-19 tests, installed a temporary air conditioning unit in the Bloomington testing site to prevent further appointment cancellations.
