Big Ten Announces Revised Football Schedule For Fall Season

The Big Ten announced its revised football schedule today, with games set to begin the first weekend in September.

Conference teams will only play other Big Ten teams and every team added one game within the conference to the pre-COVID-19 schedule.

Indiana University’s season is set to open as originally planned on Friday night Sept. 4 at Wisconsin. IU has added a game at Minnesota on Oct. 10. IU’s non-conference games with Ball State, Western Kentucky, and Connecticut were previously cancelled.

In making the announcement, conference officials acknowledged there is no guarantee the games will be played if campuses and communities don’t gain control of the virus.

The Big Ten statement says “while our strategy is to continue planning for all fall sports, if the virus continues to spread among our students despite our many preventative measures, including testing and quarantine protocols, we are also prepared to delay or cancel competition pursuant to local and state public health orders or the recommendations of our medical experts.”

The conference also announced other fall sports have been delayed until at least Sept. 5 and in-conference schedules for them will be announced later.

Indiana University's revised football schedule is below.

Sept. 12 - Penn State

Sept. 19 - Illinois

Oct. 10 - @Minnesota

Oct. 17 - Michigan
