The Indiana State Department of Health reported Thursday its greatest number of new positive COVID-19 cases in a single day: 1,051. This brought the state total to 71,015 cases statewide; an additional six deaths brought the death total to 2,811. In Indiana, COVID-19 has nearly a 4% mortality rate.
The state has tested 804,345 Hoosiers — about 12% of the state population — with an 8.8% positivity rate according to ISDH data.

Monroe County confirmed nine additional cases bringing the county total to 708 while the death count remained the same at 30 for the ninth consecutive day. Monroe County reported 16,242 residents have been tested with a 4.4% positivity rate. Just less than 11% of the county’s population has been tested.
In Monroe County, the mortality rate of COVID-19 is slightly higher than the state rate at 4.2%.
