Monroe County’s seven-day average positivity rate has dropped from over 4% in late July to 3.2% on Aug. 7.
Penny Caudill is the Monroe County Health Administrator.
She says that Monroe County’s recently implemented mask mandate, limits on gathering sizes, and lower seating capacity at bars make it hard to draw a direct correlation between the drop and any single initiative.
“That rolling average coming down hopefully has something to do with that mask order and the changes that we’ve put into place,” she says.
She says two deaths have recently been added to Monroe County’s total after a couple weeks without any.
All COVID-19 deaths in the county have been people over 50 years old, with the vast majority being over 70.
