A public meeting was held in Bloomington Thursday night to present a first draft of plans for section four of the proposed Interstate 69 highway extension.
Dozens of public officials and private citizens were given two minutes to ask questions and make comments, after a short presentation about plans the route that would link State Road 37 with US 231.
Kenda Jocham lives in Greene County. She says she's always opposed highway projects through Greene County, even though they've never threatened her property. I-69, she says, has changed that.
But Mitchell Mayor Morris Chastain was at last night's session to support the highway plan, especially if it passes near his community.
Initially the Department of Transportation had prohibited highway opponents from providing informational materal or petitions at Thursday's session citing safety concerns. Officials later rescinded that policy at the direction of Governor Mitch Daniels.
