Indiana’s seven-day COVID-19 positivity rate continues to decrease, but the seven-day death rate remains consistent, according to Indiana State Department of Health data.
The ISDH on Tuesday reported 841 new positive cases confirmed between Aug. 12 and Aug. 24 and 15 new deaths that occurred between Aug. 21 and Aug. 24. The state also documented another 9,140 new Hoosiers tested. These numbers bring the statewide totals to 88,421 positive cases, 3,023 deaths and 1,010,981 Indiana residents tested.
Over the past week, the seven-day positivity rate has slowly crept below 7% to 6.8%. In mid-June, the positivity rate bottomed out at 3.6% before more than doubling over the next two months. In terms of deaths, Indiana saw a slight uptick beginning Aug. 10 when the seven-day moving average started climbing from 10 to peak at 13 on Aug. 17. Current data indicates it likely will remain above the 10 deaths per day mark.
The ISDH reported another 15 positive cases and 275 new individuals tested in Monroe County bringing the county totals to 968 positive cases and 26,136 residents tested. Monroe County has a seven-day positivity rate of 2.2% — well below that of the state. The death count remained the same at 36.
