Eight of Indiana University's 68 fraternities and sororities will be required to quarantine following what IU Public Safety called an "alarming" increase in COVID-19 cases caused by community spread.
A Thursday evening news release said IU and the Monroe County Health Department have directed all Greek houses, plus the Evans Scholars and Christian Student Fellowship houses, to suspend any in-person activities until Sept. 14.
The release said the increase in cases was detected by IU's mitigation testing program.
IU instructed Greek houses and other housed student organizations to prepare their own COVID-19 isolation and quarantine plans.
Residents of the following eight Greek houses must remain in their houses for 14 days:
- Alpha Delta Pi
- Alpha Sigma Phi
- Beta Theta Pi
- Kappa Kappa Gamma
- Phi Gamma Delta
- Phi Kappa Psi
- Sigma Alpha Epsilon
- Theta Chi
