The Indiana State Department of Health on Tuesday reported 721 new positive cases of COVID-19 and 16 deaths confirmed between Aug. 21 and Aug. 31 bringing the state totals to 94,891 positive cases and 3,093 deaths. The state reported an additional 11,576 Hoosiers tested, and the cumulative total rose to 1,083,765 individuals tested across the state.
Indiana’s seven-day positivity rate rose to 7.1% after gradually falling over the past week.
In Monroe County, the state reported 29 new cases increasing the county total to 1,180 cases. More residents continue to test positive as the county’s seven-day positivity rate increased to 4.6% — a full percentage point higher than Monday’s. Monroe County has tested 27,453 residents. The county death count remained at 36.
The state reported 848 Hoosiers in the hospital due to COVID-19.
