Monroe County’s seven-day positivity rate for unique individuals has nearly quintupled over the past week, and Indiana shot passed the 100,000 cases mark on Monday.
The Indiana State Department of Health reported 596 new positive cases confirmed on Sept. 6, bringing the state total to 100,394 cases. An additional four deaths between Sept. 5 and Sept. 6 increased the state death count to 3,144. Across Indiana, 1,146,572 Hoosiers have been tested for COVID-19 with a 7.4% seven-day positivity rate.
In Monroe County, the seven-day positivity rate for newly tested individuals is 15% — double that of the state average. On Aug. 31, the same rate was 3.5%. The ISDH reported 55 new cases in the county bringing the total to 1,489. The death count remained at 36.
There are currently 771 Hoosiers hospitalized due to COVID-19.
