The Indiana State Department of Health continues reporting relatively low COVID-19 cases compared to previous weeks.
The ISDH reported Wednesday 720 new cases of COVID-19 confirmed between Sept. 4 and Sept. 8 — the greatest single-day case total of the week — and 17 deaths that occurred between Sept. 2 and Sept. 8. Prior to this week, Indiana averaged more than 900 cases a day since late August.
According to ISDH data, the state has tested 1,158,018 Hoosiers with a 7.2% seven-day positivity rate for unique individuals. The seven-day positivity rate for all tests is 5.1%.
In Monroe County, the ISDH reported 39 new positive cases bringing the county total to 1,559 cases while the death total remained at 36. The county has tested 29,236 Monroe County residents — about 20% of the county’s population — with a 15.6% seven-day positivity rate for unique individuals and a 9.2% seven-day positivity rate for all tests.
The state reports 763 Hoosiers hospitalized because of COVID-19.
