Indiana health officials say they will place an alert on the state’s dashboard when an estimated 50,000 negative test results from Indiana and Purdue university students are reported to the state department of health.
Students on both campuses were required to take a COVID-19 test before resuming classes whether they were symptomatic or not.
The lab has been reporting positive results from its saliva tests, but not all negative results.
State Health Commissioner Dr. Kristina Box said the positivity rate in both counties will be significantly impacted once the negative results are included.
"We are putting alerts on our dashboard for Monroe County and Tippecanoe counties because their positivity rates will be most impacted once these negative results are included," Box said.
The additional data is expected to appear on the state’s coronavirus dashboard within the next two weeks.
