Man Charged With Rape, Aggravated Battery After Alleged Bloomington Attack

A Tuesday morning foot chase led to the arrest of a 25-year-old man who allegedly raped and beat a Bloomington woman in an apartment near College Mall.

Officers responded to the apartment on Monday and located a 24-year-old woman with injuries to her head and face. The woman identified Wesley A. Green as her alleged attacker. She told investigators that the two had been arguing throughout the day and alleged that Green had raped her and struck her in the head and face before fleeing.

Bloomington police arrested Green Tuesday after pursuing him on foot near the Third Street strip mall. A news release said Green had attemped to contact the victim that morning via phone. A BPD officer was injured during the chase.

The female victim was transported by ambulance to IU Health Bloomington Hospital, where doctors determined her injuries included a fractured eye socket and brain bleed.

Because of the seriousness of her injuries, the victim was taken to IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Her condition is unknown.

Green is in custody at the Monroe County Jail. Investigators preliminarily charged him with rape, a level 1 felony; aggravated and domestic battery, level 3 and 5 felonies; and resisting law enforcement, a level 6 felony.
