Visitation Policy at IU South Central Region Hospitals
IU Health sent out a statement this week that starting Tuesday, inpatients will be allowed one visitor per day. The release goes on to say that stricter policy on visitors is a reaction to increased COVID-19 cases in the area.
Visitors will also be screened before visits and given a new mask.
IU South Central Region's president, Brian Shockney advises that if you are an inpatient or expect to be in the near future, to make a schedule with your family and friends, determining who will visit on what day.
He added in that it's helpful for patients to know that their friends and family are thinking about them, even if they can't be physically present. Virtual means of communication with patients are still available and staff are able to help facilitate virtual communication.

Numbers for IU Health’s occupied ICU beds is at 61 percent. Last week, that number was 63 percent.

At IU Health’s South Central Region Hospitals, 26 confirmed cases are being treated for COVID-19. An additional 37 people are waiting on test results. This totals 63 people currently being treated at the South Central Region Hospitals. This is up from last week's total, which was 36.
304 people have been discharged from IU Health’s South Central Region Hospitals. Last week, that number was 286.
Of the 1,523 IU Health South Central Region staff members who have been tested, 158 of those tests were positive.
So far, 1,549 staff have been quarantined and 1,493 have returned to work.
IU Health says if a staff member shows symptoms consistent with COVID-19, they are asked to temporarily self-isolate. Then, they are screened through the IU Health's virtual clinic to determine if they meet criteria for a COVID-19 test. If the staff member's test result is negative, they touch base through the virtual clinic again and can return to work after 24 hours without fever and without use of medication. If a staff member tests positive for the virus, they abstain from work for a minimum of a week, starting when symptoms began to 72 hours after being symptom-free.
