Indiana University’s updated COVID-19 dashboard reveals a decrease in on-campus positivity following a slight uptick in county rates.
Indiana State Department of Health reported Wednesday a 2.8% seven-day positivity rate in Monroe County that is slightly down from previous days but greater than the county’s 1.4% rate at the beginning of the month. IU’s lowest reported positivity rate of 0.7% for the week of Oct. 11 through Oct. 17 coincides with the county’s current trend.
The university also reported a decrease in symptomatic testing.
Positivity rates in Greek houses fell from 1.5% to 1.3%, while rates in residence halls fell from 1.1% to 0.6%. Off campus, Greek-affiliated students had an increase in positivity from 2.5% to 2.7%. Other off-campus student positivity rates fell from 0.8% to 0.5%.
ISDH reported 15 new positive cases in Monroe County, increasing the county total to 3,222 cases. The death toll remained at 38. The county has administered 108,719 tests on 50,479 individuals.
While Monroe County and IU numbers decrease, Indiana continues to report increasing positivity rates and more than 14,000 new cases over the past week.
ISDH reported 1,766 new cases — 1,765 of them confirmed on Oct. 20 — and 15 new deaths that occurred between Oct. 16 and Oct. 20. The state has administered 2,574,800 tests with a 6.9% positivity rate.
COVID-19 hospitalizations also continue increasing to 1,484.
