A Bloomington Transit bus driver who tested positive for COVID-19 earlier this week is the second driver, third BT employee, and the 12th City of Bloomington employee to do so since the beginning of the pandemic.
The employee drove Routes 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, and 9 from Oct. 3 through Oct. 17. A city news release said the driver began experiencing symptoms Oct. 18. Despite this, the city said internal contact tracing determined that "there were no other employees or customers placed at risk of exposure."
The city said the driver did not have close contact with passengers for longer than 15 minutes or at a range closer than six feet, in accordance with CDC guidelines.
The last City of Bloomington employee to test positive for COVID-19 was a Bloomington Utilities worker on Sept. 10.
