Indiana’s daily positive COVID-19 cases approached 3,000 Thursday, and on average, more than 20 Hoosiers die every day due to the virus.
Indiana State Department of Health reported a record-breaking 2,880 positive cases confirmed between Oct. 17 and Oct. 21 and 42 deaths since the beginning of the month. These numbers increased the state totals to 155,246 cases and 3,831 deaths.
COVID-19 hospitalizations reached 1,515 — the highest they have been since May 4. More than 20% of Indiana’s ICU beds are occupied with COVID-19 patients.
The state has administered 2,611,265 tests with a 6.9% seven-day positivity rate.
In Monroe County, ISDH reported 35 new positive cases, increasing the county total to 3,257 cases. The death toll remained at 38. Monroe County has administered 110,530 with a 3.3% seven-day positivity rate.
