Three additional City of Bloomington employees tested positive for COVID-19 last weekend, making them the 18th, 19th and 20th city worker cases since the beginning of the pandemic.
A news release from the city said the cases were among one Sanitation Division employee and two Bloomington Police Department Dispatch Center employees. Neither dispatch employee interacted with the public in their line of work and the Sanitation Division worker works mostly outdoors.
The city said close contacts of all three employees have been notified of the positive test results.
These new city cases come as the pandemic worsens in Indiana and across the United States. Indiana recorded multiple record numbers of new cases last week, with Gov. Eric Holcomb announcing the state would take a step back from Stage 5 of its coronavirus reopening plan.

The City of Bloomington news release said the increasing number of virus cases and potential spread during the upcoming holidays "prompted the City’s Continuity of City Government group to evaluate current protocols and consider new guidelines that will best allow the City to continue delivering services while protecting the health of employees and the greater community."
