IU Health has implemented new visitor restrictions in response to increased COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations.
Effective Nov. 19, IU Health hospitals will prohibit visitors temporarily, according to a press release. The health network does offer a few exceptions:
- Delivering mothers may receive one designated guest.
- A certified doula may attend deliveries as a member of the care team.
- Patients who are minors may have a parent or guardian accompany them along with a partner.
- Patients in the neo-natal intensive care unit or experiencing end-of-life situations may receive two designated visitors.
All visitors must screen negative for COVID-19 and wear a mask at all times.

IU Health encourages outpatient and clinic patients to come to appointments by themselves and will screen patients for COVID-19. Patients who do not pass the screening may be asked to reschedule.
If a patient requires a designated adult companion, the companion must pass a COVID-19 screening or they will be asked to leave. If a parent accompanying a minor does not pass a COVID-19 screening, another adult may be screened. Otherwise, appointments will be rescheduled.
