The new COVID-19 testing site has been open for a full week on South Morton Street in Bloomington.
Monroe County health administrator Penny Caudill said testing started at a slower rate to make sure all the systems and processes were running smoothly before ramping up operations.
"It's kind of nice to start off slow because you get to work through any challenges that you have," Caudill said.

Caudill said she encourages the community to utilize the new site more moving forward.
“To fast-track your visit make sure that you have fully completed that registration and then you should be able to get in and out very quickly," Caudill said.
Caudill said the site has tested about 70 people per day and she expects that number to climb in the coming weeks.
On Friday, the county's total COVID-19 cases increased by 149 and two more people have died because of the virus. That has brought the local seven-day positivity rate up to 5.7% and puts Monroe County into the state's "Orange" status.
