Ten of Monroe County’s 50 COVID-19 deaths have occurred during the month of November — making it the county’s second deadliest COVID-19 month, behind only June.
The ISDH reported Wednesday 65 new positive cases and one new death in Monroe County, increasing the county total to 5,367 tests and 50 deaths. Prior to November, the ISDH only documented 11 deaths between July and October, but since then, 20% of the county’s deaths have occurred.
This increase in COVID-19 deaths correlates with an increase in positive cases, but recently, the county’s seven-day positivity rate has begun to decrease. It currently sits at 5.3% after the county has administered a total of 173,319 tests.
Across Indiana, the ISDH reported 6,059 positive cases and 63 deaths, increasing state totals to 312,521 and 5,232, respectively. The state department also recorded a record-high 3,363 Hoosiers hospitalized with the virus. COVID-19 patients occupy 43.7% of ICU beds in Indiana with only 21.8% still available.
Indiana has administered more than 4 million tests on 2.1 million individuals with a seven-day positivity rate of 11.2%.
