Two Indianapolis men have been arrested in connection with the Oct. 26 shooting death of a man in Bloomington.
According to a Bloomington Police Department press release, Jamal McFadden, 24, was taken into custody on Oct. 28 in Bloomington, and Keshawn Bess, 23, was apprehended Tuesday in Indianapolis.
Both men are being held on felony charges of murder and robbery resulting in serious bodily injury. McFadden is being held in the Monroe County Jail, while Bess remains in the Marion County Jail.
The arrests stem from a shooting at the Arlington Valley Mobile Park. BPD officers arrived at the scene at about 8:32 p.m. and found 26-year-old Damon Brown unresponsive on the front porch with a gunshot wound to his chest. He was transported to IU Health Bloomington, where he was declared dead.
Investigators spoke with several witnesses, according to the release. Police believed that three males had been invited into the residence by the victim. The suspects reportedly attempted to rob the victim and multiple shots were fired before the suspects fled the area.
Two days later, on Oct. 28, McFadden, arrived at the Bloomington Police Department attempting to retrieve vehicle he owned that had been at the scene.
According to the release, McFadden had reported to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department the vehicle had been stolen from a gas station on the evening of Oct. 26. Investigators determined McFadden was in Bloomington at the time of the shooting and took him into custody.
Investigators continued the investigation and determined that Bess was one of the other two males involved in the robbery. He was taken into custody Tuesday at an apartment in the 2100 block of Shelburn Drive in Indianapolis.
