Indiana saw a dramatic increase in COVID-19 deaths throughout November. From Nov. 1 to Dec. 1, the state’s daily death average increased by 65%.
A day after a record-high 142 deaths, the Indiana State Department of Health reported Wednesday 91 new deaths and 6,655 new cases, increasing state totals to 5,688 deaths and 350,970 cases. More than 3,440 Hoosiers are hospitalized due to the virus, and according to ISDH data, COVID-19 patients occupy 45.8% of Indiana ICU beds. Only about 440 of ICU beds in the state remain available.

Indiana has administered more than 4.3 million tests with an 11% seven-day positivity rate.
The Monroe County case total grew by 87 to 5,914, while the death toll remained at 53.
After administering more than 180,000 tests, the county has a 7.5% seven-day positivity rate — more than triple the seven-day positivity rate calculated a month ago. The end of IU’s mitigation testing has drastically decreased Monroe County’s daily test count, which will be reflected in the county’s positivity rate.
