For the fourth time this month, the City of Bloomington is reporting a new COVID-19 case among city employees.
A Bloomington Fire Department employee became the 36 th City of Bloomington employee to test positive for COVID-19, after they began experiencing mild symptoms on Dec. 2. According to a Thursday afternoon news release, the employee last worked Nov. 30 and is now taking paid leave to recover. The City reported 16 COVID-19 cases among city employees in November alone.

An internal contact tracing process identified no co-workers or members of the public as close contacts.
Monroe County crossed the 6,000 case threshold on Thursday and currently has an 8.1% seven-day positivity rate.
