Now that COVID-19 vaccines are close to becoming available, the focus shifts to Catalent in Bloomington, where millions of doses of the vaccine are expected to be produced.
Catalent signed a deal with Moderna in June to fill and package one hundred million doses of the biotech company’s vaccine at its plant in Bloomington.

In September, the company announced it was spending $50 million to install an additional high-speed vial filling line that should be operational by April and be able to produce 80 million vials a year at the plant.
Catalent announced earlier in the year it was adding 300 people to help with the increased production. The company currently has more than 1,200 workers in Bloomington.
