The ISDH reported 8,003 new COVID-19 cases Friday, slightly down from the single-day record of 8,514 reported Thursday.
It’s just the third time the state has topped 8,000 new COVID-19 cases in a day.
The Indiana State Department of Health also documented 84 new COVID-19 deaths, increasing state totals to 367,329 cases and 5,832 deaths.
Indiana averages nearly 60 deaths a day, while 3,289 Hoosiers are hospitalized due to COVID-19. According to ISDH numbers, COVID-19 patients occupy 43.7% of Indiana ICU beds, with 20.5% still available.
The state has administered more than 4.4 million tests with an 11.7% seven-day positivity rate.
In Monroe County, the ISDH confirmed 92 new positive cases and one new death, increasing county totals to 6,139 cases and 55 deaths.
