Post-Thanksgiving data shows an increase in Indiana’s COVID-19 positivity rates.
The Indiana State Department of Health reported Monday 5,700 new positive COVID-19 cases and 42 new deaths, increasing state totals to 387,278 cases and 5,986 deaths. More than 3,200 Hoosiers are currently hospitalized due to COVID-19, and COVID-19 patients occupy 43.6% of Indiana ICU beds. Just 22% of state ICU beds are still available.
Indiana has administered more than 4.6 million tests on 2.3 million Hoosiers with a 13.8% seven-day positivity rate. The state has not had a positivity rate this high since April 30.

In Monroe County, the ISDH reported 95 new cases and 1 new death, which increased county totals to 6,395 cases and 59 deaths. Monroe County has documented six coronavirus-related deaths so far in December — nearly half the number of deaths reported in all of November.
The county has administered 190,374 tests with a 10.6% seven-day positivity rate.
