The City of Bloomington has reported six COVID-19 employee cases in nearly as many days, the latest being four Bloomington Fire Dept. workers who received positive test results between Dec. 4 and 7.
A city news release said a contact tracing investigation determined that the BFD workers were not close contacts of one another, nor did they have close contact with other BFD employees or members of the public.

The last BFD COVID-19 case was reported Dec. 3.
These most recent cases bring the total number of city employees to have tested positive for COVID-19 since March to 40.
COVID-19 cases in Bloomington and Monroe County have been steadily increasing. Earlier this week the Monroe County Community School Corp. transitioned to Phase Red of its COVID-19 response plan, requiring all students to begin virtual learning.
