For the third time this month, the Indiana State Department of Health reported more than 100 new COVID-19 deaths.
The ISDH recorded Tuesday 129 deaths that occurred between Nov. 8 and Dec. 14 and an additional 4,347 cases of the virus. These newly reported numbers increase state totals to 434,642 cases and 6,657 deaths.
Dec. 8 has become Indiana’s deadliest day of the pandemic with 79 deaths occurring on that specific Tuesday, yet the state is averaging nearly 70 deaths every day. On Dec. 1, the state reported a record-high 142 deaths for November.

According to the health department, 42.3% of ICU bed contain COVID-19 patients, with 23.9% still available. And COVID-19 hospitalizations jumped by nearly 150 since Monday with 3,229 Hoosiers hospitalized due to the virus.
Indiana has administered more than 5 million tests with a current seven-day positivity rate of 12.5%.
In Monroe County, the ISDH reported 63 new positive cases and five new deaths, totaling 7,071 cases and 76 deaths countywide. Monroe County now averages two COVID-19 deaths a day as December continues as the deadliest month of the pandemic. Twenty-four county residents have died this month from the virus.
Monroe County has administered more than 200,000 COVID-19 tests on more 68,000 residents, and the seven-day positivity rate has fallen slightly to 7.2%.
