Indiana Teacher Salary To Start At $40K Under New Budget Plan

Indiana teacher salaries would start at $40,000 a year under the budget plan agreed upon by Indiana House and Senate negotiators.

The $37.4 billion spending plan has about $2 billion in new spending for education over the next two years.

School Corporations that do not set the minimum salary of $40,000 dollars for their teachers must explain why in a report to the Department of Education.

The main goal of the teacher salary increase is to make Indiana’s average teacher pay more competitive with neighboring states.

Governor Holcomb says Indiana is coming out of the pandemic in better financial condition than most states, which allows for investments in education and infrastructure while paying down current debt.
