No shots were fired at a northwestern Indiana high school that was put on lockdown Wednesday morning after a report of a person with a gun, authorities said.
The Lake Central school district posted on Twitter that St. John police took two Lake Central High School students in for questioning but that no shots were fired and all students and staff members were safe.
Police officers from several departments conducted a room-by-room search at the school after being called about 10 a.m., Roger Patz, a police spokesman, told The (Northwest Indiana) Times.A SWAT team was also called to the school in the town of St. John, about 40 miles (65 kilometers) southeast of downtown Chicago.
Hundreds of parents swarmed to the school of about 3,200 students as word spread about the lockdown.
