Seven Oaks Classical School Appeals Health Department Citation

The Monroe County Health Department cited Seven Oaks Classical School in Ellettsville August 19th for violating the county mask mandate. The school appealed to the county commissioners August 25th.

County Health Administrator Penny Caudill wrote the citation eight days after the school opened for the academic year. She said the next step is a Zoom hearing between school administrators and county commissioners next Wednesday.

“If it’s denied, then I believe that they still have the ability to go to circuit court,” she said.

Caudill said the health department cannot take further action in this process.

“Everybody has the same goals in mind in the end in that we want students to be safe, and faculty and staff to be safe," she said. " I think there is just a difference of agreement in terms of authorities here.”

Seven Oaks is the only school in the County which has not complied with the county health order.
