Indiana University’s 2021 Annual Security and Fire Safety report found an increase in reported rape cases on IU’s campus and decreases in drug and liquor violations.
The report, released Friday, showed an increase in reported rapes from 19 in 2019 to 22 in 2020. Drug violations decreased from 150 in 2019 to 87 in 2020 and liquor violations decreased from 145 to 64.
Fifteen rape cases took place in residential facilities and seven on-campus, according to the report. The only other increase was in the fondling category, from five on-campus in 2019 to seven on campus in 2020.
According to the Indiana University Police Department Crime Log, 13 rapes have been reported since the beginning of the 2021-22 school year.
